Holiday Thanks & Events

Jackie HeadshotJackie Thompson, Event Committee Coordinator

Tis the Season to gather with our families, share what we have and give thanks to God for our blessings.  When the Pilgrims arrived in the new World they planted crops to survive.  Then they celebrated their journey by having a feast and giving thanks to God for their harvest, thus began the tradition of Thanksgiving.  In our modern times, Thanksgiving has become a day for us to gather with family and friends, eat lots of food, and for most of America, watch football.  Although, most of us are not planting or harvesting our crops we are thankful to our almighty God for the blessings that we enjoy each and every day.

For many, Thanksgiving is the most celebrated family holiday of the year and marks the beginning of the Christmas holiday season.  As this time of celebration and holiday cheer begins our church has lots to be thankful as well!  One of our biggest blessings is that we have our own church building where we gather for worship services and other events that bring us together as a community.  This Thursday, two of our congregants are hosting a Thanksgiving Day meal here in our building.  This meal is open to everyone and as such we have people from Pueblo joining us, how exciting!

In our building we are also hosting this year’s Christmas Party scheduled for Saturday, December 7th in the Fellowship Hall.  We will be having a table decorating contest, gift exchange, food, games and fellowship.  Anyone interested in participating in the table decorating contest please contact Jackie Thompson for details.  We will meet here at the building before the Christmas Party for anyone interested in caroling.  From the building we will carpool and carol for those individuals in our church that have limited mobility.

Lastly, beginning the first Sunday of December, Reverend Diane Martin joins our ministry team and leads us in worship for the next few months.  Another reason to thank God as we begin our Advent season.

What a blessing it is to have a building where we can gather, give thanks, and have fun! So, come out and join us!
